Bentwater's Fine Art Show turned out marvelously well for me. Lots of very positive responses to my reclaimed fabric compositions. People were making the (unprompted) observation that they were "art and not quilts" so that was a huge relief. I spent a lot of time unfolding the ones in front and showing & talking about them. I received 3 invitations to join the Art League and an invitation to "please, please come show your work in the gallery". Apparently the Art League is part of a larger network of art leagues who have shows twice a year; excluding this Bentwater show. As a spur of the minute show, the Bentwater show was very well attended with over 400 guests; not bad considering it was in a closed community where guests had to register to enter the facility.
Of all the framed pieces, the skulls were the ones that sold. Surprised me!
A little joy: a veteran 35 year art teacher told me my framed collage compositions were very good (unsolicited). (They are along the front & one at the right top). They are all fabric snippets & tidbits.
People loved the colors. They were just drinking them up.
Oh and a commission!
